NLP Trainer, Coach & Hypnotherapist

It took the combination of my Mum dying, Captain Cook’s Ship Endeavour coming to Whitby and my Doctor suggesting a course of massage and acupuncture to help with  my constant migraines and irritable bowel, for me to take the leap and change my life.

Up to that point I was too scared to take the leap!

(Scroll down the page to try the Self Hypnosis exercise!)

You might be wondering what on earth did Captain cooks ship have to do with my decision, and that explanation can fill a whole new blog post, but this post is more about you taking action.

We all have primary needs for survival including a strong need for certainty.  This can get in our way of taking action because we have to be certain that we do it right, get it right or we might fail.  This need can be useful if we are risking our life but can get in our way of making decisions of all kinds.

It’s been 20 years since my Mum died and I learned over time and whilst collecting many qualifications, diplomas and experience that I can take action and don’t have to be perfect before I do.  I had a lightbulb moment when I recognised that it is just by actually doing the thing I am afraid to do that I can become certain that I am doing my best, that I am learning, from every experience, and that is what I am here on earth to do, to learn, grow and evolve from every experience.

What took me 20 years to learn,  has now become my job as teacher, coach and therapist.  I help people to change their negative thinking  and let go of fears and old patterns of behaviour so they can move forward in their life, resulting in happier relationships, increased energy and a tenacity to reach their goals in life. For those of you interested I have an online coaching program and by reading this post, you may apply for a FREE strategy session

I have many tools in my toolkit to help you,  and I would like to take this opportunity to share with you a simple self hypnosis technique that will help you to relax and increase your confidence enabling you to let go of fear that is holding you back from taking that leap.

You can practice this with a friend or loved one, if you are taking somebody else into a relaxed state, speak softly and slowly, you can aim to match your speaking to the rise and fall of the persons chest.

Or you could record this onto your phone or iPod and use it to listen to yourself.  Its a great strategy to help you to go to sleep at night and awaken relaxed and refreshed in the morning.

SELF HYPNOSIS TECHNIQUE

1.  Find somewhere to relax without being disturbed.

2.  Begin to focus on your breathing, the gentle rise and fall of your chest, count your breath, count to seven as you breath in and eleven

      as you breath out.

3.  At the same time, begin to imagine relaxing all the muscles in your body, from the top of your head to the tips of your toes.

4.  Now in your mind imagine a ruler, a vertical ruler in your mind, marked from 0 – 100.

5.  Imagine a mark on this ruler that marks your level of consciousness between 0 and 100

6.  Begin to lower the level to increase your relaxation, taking the level down 5 points, then 10 points.

7.  Imagine the mark on the ruler increasing by 10 points, bringing you more aware.

8  continue raising and lowering the level for a while and eventually taking the level all the way down to zero

9. In this relaxed state of mind take yourself to a memory where you felt confident, see what you saw, hear what you heard and feel how

good you felt with those good, confident feelings moving around your body

10.As you feel the confident feeling building up inside, squeeze the index finger and thumb on your right hand together, then relax..

11.  Now think of something in the future where you would like to be confident

12. Imagine being there in the future situation, see what you see, hear what you hear and squeeze your index finger and thumb

together.notice the confident feeling move through your body.  notice the change in your physiology, standing taller, breathing

      deeper, feeling in control.

13.  Repeat for various situations.  Always build a good resource (memory) and remember to squeeze your finger and thumb together.

14. Notice as you awaken how much better you feel, practice the scenario in the future going well and see the end of the situation, see

what you see, hear what you hear and feel how good you feel having completed the thing you were fearing to do.

Have fun with the above technique.

I am also holding an Intensive two day Basic Hypnosis Course, this weekend, 5th & 6th July.

This course is for anyone who is passionate about helping others and also to help you move beyond your own fears and begin to think in new ways that will surprise and delight you.  This course is intended to alley the fears around hypnosis and show you simple ways of eliciting trance, guiding a person into absorbed and focused attention and then helping them to reconnect with resources already within the person.

There is still a few places, so if you are interested, click on the link and fill in the form on my website or e-mail now to reserve your space.
