It’s Monday lunchtime here in Queensland and I am feeling hungover with tiredness after completing the penultimate weekend in a year long Clarity Practitioner course, aimed at deepening my grounding (understanding) of the inside out nature of life and how thought affects our reality.
Within the course we have the opportunity of coaching our colleagues and being coached in return during one of these sessions last night I was hit with one of those wonderful ‘aha’ moments, we all get them, those magic moments of inspiration and clarity where you just know the answer to something you have been trying to figure out.
If you have read the introduction to this post, you might have an inkling of the direction I am steering in a way of helping you find your own answers, whether it is finding your purpose in life or just knowing the next step to take.
When you gain insight, how you see life changes, problems and issues begin to melt away as old patterns and beliefs disntegrate, freeing your mind of insecure thinking and all this happens without having to complete hours of exercising, learning techniques or doing anything to keep you on track.
1.Where Most People Look for purpose and why
It’s not that we are told in words by our parents, colleagues, friends or family where to search for our happiness and wellbeing, it’s just the way it has been for generations and nobody thinks of challenging the why, so people keep searching for the answer, when it was hidden all the time so close they couldn’t see it.
One thing for sure is that we live in an achievement model world. A world in which we have been fooled into thinking we have to earn our worth, striving to achieve outside goals such as financial stability, looking a certain way, following the latest fashions and driving the fastest car. Don’t get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with having any of this stuff as long as you realise your wellbeing and worth isn’t attached to achieving these goals.
Until the fact of our true worth and wellbeing is realised, we can be blind to it’s very presence and keep searching and believing our happiness is something out there in the future or past.
When life is going to plan and we are reaching our material goals, bathing in success, the last thing we do is question our worth, it’s only when life doesn’t go to plan, that we have a sense of going off track or missing out on our perceived future that we thing we have got it wrong and try to get back on track.
Every day brings new challenges, marriages fail, businesses go bankrupt, cashflow dries up along with our self esteem. Creating psychological stress, anxiety and depression. But what isn’t often realised is that the symptoms come after the thought, the contaminated or insecure thinking around our situation which happens before the chemicals are released from the brain creating a myriad of symptoms.
We then treat the symptoms, either by conventional methods, visit the GP, take drugs or we look into alternative remedies and self help books. This all helps until it doesn’t.. until the old patterns return, because the true cause hasn’t been found or addressed.
2. Where the answer to your purpose really lies
When you realise for yourself the truth, it’s like you’re revisiting something you already knew but as most enlightened masters point out, you only see the truth when you are ready.
Reading or hearing a suggestion of only seeing the truth when you are ready used to frustrate me, filling my head with thinking about what was wrong with me, why wasn’t I ready, good enough, clever enough, or perhaps it just wasn’t meant for me to know. But, I was wrong, I know the answer and I can tell you now that the answer lies within you, me and each and every human being living on earth.
(I knew you wouldn’t believe me)
Even when you see the truth for yourself, trying to show another person what you have seen and felt can be challenging, because no matter how you explain through words and actions, you can end up frustrated, as you’re interpretation of the truth is met with strange stares of incomprehension. People get stuck in their thinking and don’t even realise they are creating their reality moment to moment.
With this in mind, I ask you to keep an open mind, not to believe my words, but look beyond the words and listen for the feeling.
Think of a situation that has been on your mind and causing you stress, when you feel the uncomfortable sensation, stop for a moment, instead of going down the old train of thought, blaming others, a situation or challenge, whether it’s something to do with parents, boss or anything else, ask yourself what is really going on here?
What is the story you have been living by?
here’s an example to show you what I am pointing to:
Statement: “I’m trying to find my purpose”
Gives a suggestion that purpose exists and that you haven’t got it yet and it can be found somewhere out there. This belief alone fills head’s with thinking, what purpose could be, how to find it and to know you’ve got it?
Then we search for the solution, looking via different ways and means, more courses, webinars, seminars, reading books, more learning all in the elusive search for something we have no idea what is and how we will know when we have found it.
3. what this means to you and I
Freedom from stress.
(Click here to learn more about the true nature of stress.)
We create our own stress from the inside out depending on the thoughts we are paying attention to.
When my mind was quite It became clear to me earlier a thought of writing a blog around purpose. I wasn’t searching, it just came to me in a moment of clarity.
It’s the same for you too, when you think of all the times and places where you have been struggling, I can guarantee that 100% of your uncomfortable feelings are coming from your thinking about the situation.
Have you ever had those times where you are looking for something, maybe your car keys and you search and search everywhere until you get fed up searching and give up, you go and do something else and then as if by magic your car keys appear?
Yeah me too!
So what doe this mean for you and I?
What works for me and I am sure it’s the same for you too, is that I stop trying so hard to analyse and figure out the direction and realise, my direction is with me all along, throughout my life, from my dad suffering from depression to working as a psychiatric nurse and later a therapist and coach, helping people let go of stress and return to a sense of wellbeing no matter what is going on in life, that knowing without knowing.
That’s my purpose.
What’s yours?
“It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
