Ok, I am probably crazy, It’s freezing, and I sometimes do think How can I exercise in this?, but this week I registered for the Sunshine Coast Marathon with just eight weeks to train. I have a base of 20k so it is achievable with a lot of effort and focus with my training.
The trouble is that here in South East Queensland we are experiencing the coldest winter spell in 103 years. Which means that at 5am in the morning when I usually train, it is still quite dark and the temperatures are down to around 3c.
So how do I drag myself out of bed ant into the cold dark morning air and train? There are 4 x basic tips that i will share with you.
1. First you have to have a goal. There has to be a reason and it has
to be desirable.
2. Be accountable, arrange to meet some friends! or join a club. You wouldn’t want to let them down would you? 😉
3. Set your clothes out the night before, sets the intention so your unconscious mind is on board!
4. Visualise – see yourself after doing the exercise and feeling good 🙂
5. Finally – reward yourself for your effort! My favourite reward is to go for coffee and a chat with my running
buddies.
Enjoy and know that you will be feeling fit and healthy for the warmer weather!
