I failed!

and feeling like a failure sucks!

I recently had a client who I was unable to help. This is not the first time this has happened, and unfortunately, it will not be the last. As a hypnotherapist, it is sometimes difficult to face failure. However, it is important to learn from these experiences in order to become a better therapist. In this blog post, I would like to discuss some of the things that I have learned from my failures as a hypnotherapist. Hopefully, other therapists can learn from my mistakes too!

Signs:

I had missed the signs and was trying to educate her. I got it wrong and as a therapist and NLP coach I am trained to enter my client’s model of the world, to understand their thinking so they can feel my presence. I know this much because I spent some time later stepping back in my mind and utilising an NLP) pattern called perceptual positions, not only to gain more about my client’s state of mind but to analyse my own state and how I could do things differently in another situation.

NLP (Neuro-Linguistic-Programming:

Being able to utilise NLP on myself helped me step back and see the bigger picture, be able to see not only my client from a different point of view, but also to see my own state at the time and how I could have been different another time which might have helped me create the outcome I was hoping for.

If you find yourself struggling at times, lacking confidence, feeling that you are not good enough, being able to step back in your mind and analyse the situation from a different perspective can help you re-establish your sense of worth, value and realise that you are here to learn and grow from every experience.

It’s Part of Being Human

We all have felt like a failure at one point or another. It’s a natural feeling that comes with taking risks and putting ourselves out there. But just because we feel like a failure doesn’t mean we are one. In fact, it’s often through our failures that we learn the most and become better people.

If you’re feeling like a failure right now, know that you’re not alone. And know that it’s okay to feel this way. What matters is how you deal with your failures. Do you let them defeat you or do you use them as motivation to keep going?

Need Help?

I love helping other therapist’s and coaches gain a deeper understanding of how the mind works so they can notably become better at their job but so they can stay resourceful and in a learning state even when things don’t go to plan.

Such as the smoking client who seems to be blaming you because he now smokes more cigarettes! or the weight loss client who says since seeing you they are eating more.

I’m just throwing examples out there but often it’s just a feeling we have that we are not good enough, a sense of overwhelm and that everyone else is better.

You Can Do it!

My suggestion for you today is to use your failures as fuel to keep moving forward and reach your goals. You can do it!
